The Strathaven Easter Pilgrimage

The Strathaven Easter Trail is a project organised by the churches of Strathaven to bring easter alive in a dramatic way.  Using the backdrop of the landmarks of our town Strathaven 'becomes' Jerusalem for Holy Week, the week leading up to Easter Sunday itself. And so people enter the city through the Sheep Gate, visit the Upper Room, the Temple Courtyard, Caiphas the High Priest's House, the Garden of Gethsemane, the Roman Fort, the Hill of the Cross.... and as they visit they can hear the story retold and recounted by guides.

In this our first year (2009) 1300 people visited some part of the trail.

We are keeping the Easter Trail website active so you can take a 'virtual tour', listen to an MP3 tour, or some descriptions of he relevance of the sites, relive the trail, and look forward to next Easter.
